Modify your Practice

  • Light House Yoga 1060 Osgood Street North Andover, MA, 01845 United States (map)

Yoga is an excellent practice for strength and flexibility as well as stress relief and exploring life’s deeper meaning. But what do you do when some of your asana poses cause pain or your body just doesn’t move the way your teacher instructs? Join in a conversation with Jessica, a Licensed Physical Therapist and yoga teacher, about your personal limitations and difficulties in your yoga practice.

We will learn relevant anatomy of participants’ injuries and problem joints, and explore common aggravating poses, the reason why they hurt, and how the poses can be modified. The goal for this session is for you to be able to return to your favorite yoga classes armed with tips, tricks and techniques to enable you to continue your practice your way.

This class is also appropriate for yoga teachers who would like to review anatomy as it directly applies to students’ adversities and limitations as well as explore appropriate modifications and props that could be offered in classes.

Please bring: yoga mat, paper and pen, and a list of questions or concerns about specific problem poses.
