When you’re stressed, what’s your capacity for pleasure?

When you’re overwhelmed, do you find it hard to be present and grateful?

You may be hearing that to experience more joy in life, you just need to change your mindset. But in Ayurveda and Somatic Therapy, we understand it’s actually more about the body. The state of your mind reflects your physiology. When you're overwhelmed, anxious, or irritable, that's a sign you're in a stress response. Changing your mindset may be impossible until you heal your body first.

Our culture normalizes running on stress hormones. Your to-do list is the modern equivalent of running from the bear. Your nervous system is designed to choose immediate survival first and hyper-focus on that. In this nervous system state it's difficult, if not impossible, to savor the pleasures and joy of life. In fact, joy, pleasure and gratitude can actually feel like a threat to a nervous system in survival mode.

In this workshop you’ll learn:

  • How to read your nervous system

  • How to build greater capacity in your body and mind to handle stress

  • How to wind down out of chronic stress response so you can open yourself up to more joy, presence and pleasure

  • How to build this capacity for stress and pleasure naturally

Ayurveda revolutionized her life and she now dedicates her work to empowering women to heal. She does this through her Essential Living Coaching Group.
